HYBRID PAPER CRAFTING...IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS!

I wanted to share with you the Hybrid Scrap Challenge I am doing on the D&D forum:

Here is a challenge for all of you "non-traditional" types! Download and PRINT any of the Denim and Daisies freebie kits or kit elements, and then cut them out, tear them, ink them, distress them!

THEN, create a digital layout, print, and add the additional element pieces for a 3-D effect! It's fun! It's creative! And it's all made possible by Denim and Daisies traditional, digital and hybrid design kits!

Let the games begin!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!

TODAY is the day of the Grand Opening of the Denim and Daisies Web Shoppe! This shoppe is unique in that it features kits only: Traditional Paper, Digital and Hybrid! I am SO excited to be a member of their Wildflower Hybrid Creative Team! I will be hosting a hybrid scrap challenge at 10 a.m. central time. I'm not yet sure what all that entails, but it will sure be fun! Come on along and jump on the Denim and Daisies Blog Train! There will be freebie kits at EVERY STOP!

AMAZING NEWS! DING! DING! DING!

Greetings, dear reader!

Okay, the news may not be amazing to you, but it is to me...I've been chosen to be on a Creative Design Team!

A new website and shoppe, Denim and Daisies (could the name be any more perfectly ME?!?) has asked me to be on their "hybrid" Wildflower Creative Team. My "official" title is "Creative Gardner". Check out the website...it's due to launch THIS WEEKEND! I'm so excited!

Here's my first layout using several of the new digital kits...what do you think?

They also have a paper shoppe that specializes in kits! Everything included in one handy dandy place...papers, embellies, ribbons, buttons, stamps, etc. I just LOVE a theme, don't you?

How GORGEOUS is this? More exciting news as it develops! Stay tuned!

CAMPING AND WEBSTER THE WONDER DOG

Greetings, dear reader!

As promised, here are the camping photos...the fall weather was absolutely perfect!

Our little still-gold-but-not-yet-aqua canned ham looked like it belonged nestled in the grove of yellow leaved trees...

Webster loves being able to run in "the wild". I think it's because he's getting back to his baser wolf instincts. ha

And then, in the midst of all the autumn color, the tallest persimmon tree I've ever seen. The orange persimmons against the bright blue sky were just lovely.

As the sun began to set, the warmth of the day began to dissipate...

And the bright color of the day gives way to the pastels of the sunset...

Camping in October has been the best experience so far!

HALLOWEEN OVERKILL...IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE?

Greetings, dear reader!

I want to share with you some of the paper items made for Halloween...lots are vintage-esque and fun to have around! Behold the Halloween houses made from 3 kraft colored paper mache houses. Little tags adorn each and the letters are hand cut (argh) and hand glittered (UGH...what was I thinking?!) by me. :-)

Also, I created several "magic wands" from paper mache ornaments found at Michael's for 99 cents. They are reminiscent of the "nap fairy wands" used in Kindergarten! I just love the papers from Making Memories Spellbound collection! I added dried beans inside so they rattle. Voila! Halloween noise makers!

AND because it's that "time of year" , I have been watching the Phantom of the Opera for the nine jillionth time...the song, "Masquerade" inspired the following piece. Again, hand cut, painted and glittered by yours truly...I just love the harlequin paper and the clowns! (

Counselor sidenote: did you know that statistically, Coulrophobia: clown phobia is one of the top 5 phobias listed among mental health practitioners? Isn't that incredible?

I hate to hear that...for I was a clown in "another life." "Aggie" (short for agape) made several appearances for inner city kids at Sidewalk Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and even several city events. (Photographic proof forthcoming) For one who makes her living trying to help people find healing, I hate to think that I may have been the cause of putting someone on another counselor's couch! I digress...

And lest you think all of this Halloween hooplah is just TOO MUCH...I give you HALLOWEEN OVERKILL. In a nearby neighborhood, the little gramma that lives in this house decorates for EVERY holiday like this. A path has been made so trick or treaters can find their way to the front door. Typically, there is no path. I suppose the resident(s) use the back door. :-)

It's beyond hilarious...but (brace yourselves) something in me LIKES the over-the-top-ness of it all. I mean, if *I* were one to decorate my yard, it would probably look very similar! As it is, my junque books and papercrafts must take all of the overdone embellishment!

HALOWEEN TAG JUNQUE BOOK

Greetings, dear reader!

Here is the Halloween Junque book I created...hope it inspires you to create a halloween tag book of your own! Kit from Red Lead...of course! I added lots of my favorite embellies and voila! a festive book to display and ogle!

Before assembling, I inked all of the elements, tags and pages...alternating orange and black inks.

The vintage moon image is one of my faves...and of course, can I make ANYTHING without pom pom fringe? I think not!

The fabric tag has an owl image stamped on it, then ribbon sewn to the top of the tag. It was then inked.

I found a beautiful piece of vintage black lace for the background of this page...I wove orange bias tape through it then attached it to the page. I just love how it turned out! I then added the stamped little "spook".
