Today, October 11th is the auspicious occasion of my #1 son Ian!
I had the dear lad when I was 18 years young...a senior in high school. He began life as a non-sleeper. He would sleep only an hour at a time, and awoke every hour on the hour. It was as tho I had given birth to a cuckoo clock. At any rate, he doubled his weight right away and by the time he was 3, he looked like this:
Was he not adorable? And here he is at 5:
He has very few pictures where he wasn't smiling. In fact, he was taken to the photographer so much (by his gramma) that he could smile and pose on command from age 2. :-)
There is 8 years difference between he and my son Paul...yet they always got along...well, like brothers get along!

When Ian was 18, he went immediately from high school to the Marine Corps. He served 8 years in the marines, and in the process, met and married this wonderful gal ... a student at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. "You chose wisely, grasshopper" She is a catch and a half!
And now, several years later, he is a daddy and finding out for himself the joy of a high energy child who needs very little sleep. Can you see where my grandbaby gets his good looks?
How precious is this picture? I am so proud of him and the man he's become! He has a wonderfully dry, sarcastic wit (where EVER would he get THAT?!?!?) and is brilliant when it comes to history, government and politics.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IAN! YOU ARE LOVED!
More soon,
XOXOXOX
Mom
