HOME AGAIN...

Greetings, dear readers!

I am grateful to have made the trip to Tahlequah, OK and lived to tell about it! The weather in Oklahoma is...well, do you know how HOT Oklahoma is mid-July? ("No, how hot is it?" you ask?) Try 117 degrees! SHEESH! There were times I was certain I would internally combust! However, lots of work was done and many new friendships were made...you can check out my pictures on my facebook page:

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I've been creating...painting furniture, stripping carpet from floors, and getting ready to make my craft room a bit "craftier". Here's a groovy rug I found at World Market. It's EXACTLY the color, style and size I would have painted on the floor...AND (here's the best part) it is PLASTIC and was only $7.00! WOOT!

I've also painted an old white desk chair...basecoated it aqua (what else?!) and then hand painted some designs on it...I used rubons for some of the details too!





Even hubby dear likes it!







In my next post...I will show you photos of the "altAred Art" created while on the reservation in Oklahoma!

OFF TO THE MISSION FIELD...

Greetings, dear friends!

I'm writing just long enough to say, "If I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night!" I am off to the mission field...the Cherokee Reservation in Oklahoma to be exact. We (the youth group, youth leader and myself) will be doing home repairs for those who are otherwise unable to get them done. I will be "unplugged" for a week, so I will see you when I get back...with photos, of course!

Meanwhile, I'd appreciate your prayers for our safety as we travel, as well as for meaningful ministry to take place while we are there.

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES...PLEASE STAND BY...

Greetings, dear readers!

I am currently having "issues" with my laptop computer...therefore my updates may be sporadic and few. I can't upload photos (BOO! I have some of the COOLEST things to show you!)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I will be leaving this Saturday to go on a missions trip to Telaquah, Oklahoma to do some repair work on the Indian reservation. I'll be going as a youth chaperone...I'll post pictures of our time there as soon as I'm able. :-(

Also, I just joined Swap-Bot and have joined 2 or 3 ATC swaps. WHICH REMINDS ME: All of you who are participating in my "HOME" ATC swap, please have your cards in the mail by July 15th (ish). Again, I will let you know as soon as I receive yours and will be sending you a little thank you RAK at once!

HI HO CHERRY-O!

Greetings, dear reader!

It just occurred to me that my blog resembles a game from childhood: Hi Ho Cherry O! Remember that game? Anyway, don't know why I thought about that...



One of THE coolest birthday cakes EVER! YUM!

I digress. I am writing to ask you, dear reader, if any of you know about a retreat...an altered art, mixed media, won't-cost-me-an-arm-and-a-leg kind of retreat? I really love sitting under the tutelage of an artist...whether it's a class or a seminar or a workshop. I am SO inspired the inspiration "fuels me" for months!

I've found a few online...many are on the east or west coast...very little seems to be happening in the middle of the U.S. (I'm not sure why that is...surely there are mixed media artists lurking about, yes? If YOU happen to be one of those artists, make yourself known! Don't be shy...)
