Today, I'm sporting a FABulous "green" find:
And look at these vintage beauties I found at a Flea Market...Kitchen Curtains a la 70s!
Lest I be chided for being shallow and superficial...allow me to remind you of the man for whom this day is named...and since I am a great fan of religious icons, I have chosen this iconic image of the dear saint:

Kidnapped from the British mainland around age 16, and shipped to Ireland as a slave. Sent to the mountains as a shepherd, he spent his time in prayer. After six years of this life, he received had a dream in which he was commanded to return to Britain; seeing it as a sign, he escaped. He studied in several monasteries in Europe. Priest. Bishop. Sent by Pope Celestine to evangelize England, then Ireland, during which his chariot driver was Saint Odran, and Saint Jarlath was one of his spiritual students. In 33 years he effectively converted the Ireland. In the Middle Ages Ireland became known as the Land of Saints, and during the Dark Ages its monasteries were the great repositories of learning in Europe, all a consequence of Patrick's ministry. Saint Patrick's Breastplate
Christ be with me, Christ within me,Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort me and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
As I have confessed here in blogdom before, I am a Franciscan...however the above prayer along with the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Make Me An Instrument of Your Peace...) have been linked together in a contemporary song by the Ragamuffin Band, "Make Me An Instrument." I heartily commend it to you on this day of green beer, leprauchans, Irish jigs and Christian history!
