ATC SWAP AND FUNKY FINDS!

Greetings dear reader!

First of all I'm SO EXCITED to tell you that Art In Season has a featured spot on the Funky Finds Website! I have currently opened my shop in the Funky Finds Shops! Woohoo! Would you take a minute to go to the shops at Funky Finds and rate my shop? Thank YOU!

I am also writing to invite you all to participate in an ATC Swap! An ATC, for those of you who do not know, is an Artist Trading Card. At only 2.5 x 3.5 these tiny pieces of art can be traded and swapped all over the world! For only the cost of postage you can have a one of a kind piece of art with either a Halloween or Thanksgiving theme.

Here's an example of the front and back both a Halloween ATC. Do you have an old deck of playing cards? You can make ATCs from them! If anyone has a Thanksgiving or Autumn ATC you'd like to share as an example, please email me and I'll post it here!

Okay, here's the deal: If you want to be involved in the swap, please shoot me an email and let me know if you want to swap Halloween, Thanksgivining or both. This is a 10/9 Swap which means you send me 10 ATCs and receive 9 back. I will gather all the ATCs and then send each participant 9 different ATCs in return. Please make sure your ATC's are 2.5 x 3.5" and are on cardstock. You may do them all the same or all different. Originals or photo copies are fine, but all need an embellishment! Please send a bubble envelope with your return address label and postage.

All ATCs are to be in MY hands by Friday, October 24th. I will then immediately sort and mail all the ATCs back to you so you will hopefully have them on or near Halloween and well before Thanksgiving.

Sound like fun? Woohoo! I can't wait!

More soon!

XOXOXOX

HAPPY OCTOBER 1st!

Greetings, dear readers!

I hope you are all (those of you who live in the midwest US or in a place where seasons change) enjoying the refreshing change of weather! The cool, crisp air, the bright blue sky against red and golden leaves...ahhhhhhh. What could be better?

Truly the changing leaves and cooler weather are two of my favorite parts of autumn. Oh! And this:

And it's the time of year for one of my favorite literary authors: Edgar Allen Poe. His books, The Pit and the Pendulum, The TellTale Heart, and the Raven (the one I created my banner to commemorate) have been longstanding favorites. I am not one who enjoys "slasher movies", nor do I watch or can I tolerate the "shockers" that have graced the theatres in the past few years. I suppose because I love literature, the storyline has to be a bit more tangible...well written, suspenseful.

Vincent Price has played the lead in almost every Edgar Allen Poe movie I can think of...and, of course NOW, with all the advances in technology, the effects of the old black and white movies are less than spectacular. However, a good story is a good story...and Poe writes in such a suspenseful, timeless manner that even "hammy" acting and black and white film cannot dampen the terror of the story!

Here's a clip to show you what I mean:

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Happy first day of October to ye!

More soon!

XOXOXOX
