UPDATE ON OUR PROJECT FOR SANDY: CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

Greetings, dear readers!

Dear E and I have put our heads together (uh-oh!) and come up with an idea we believe will be just the thing to remind Sandy that she is loved, prayed for, thought about and generally HUGGED by our blogging community.  Elizabeth will write more about it on Monday, but here is a "hint" so you can be thinking about what you want to contribute specifically...

We believe that in our darkest moments, PRAYER brings into the Light hope and love. Therefore, I would like each of you to contribute a scripture and/or a prayer that has always spoken peace and healing to you. I will collect each of these scriptures, attach your name, and compile them into a wonderful container of some sort so Sandy can see each and every day (I'm thinking a vintage Mason jar!) the prayers and scriptures from her friends!

I am contributing the scripture: "He will keep her in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon Him." Plus a prayer that I have prayed for her many times, "Lord, please grant Sandy peace of mind, grace to walk out Truth as you show her, and courage to face each day, knowing that You ALWAYS go before us making our paths straight."

Please leave your prayers/scripture verses in the comments on this post. I will collect them all and print them in a lovely manner for presentation to our dear friend!

Peace and joy to each of you on this Christmas Eve! I leave you with a rendition of my favorite Christmas Carol: Carol of the Bells: Trans Siberian Orchestra style!

Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares upon the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
I have relied on the truth of this verse to carry me along many dark paths. I put myself in God's hands and trust that he will give me (and Sandy) the strength to face our greatest fears and troubles.
DEAR LORD, please protect and guard our friend Sandy as she struggles with some difficult issues. Let her always feel your loving presence and know that friends are praying for her and holding her close in their hearts.
We pray in Jesus name.

For Sweet Sandy..."Never make someone a priority in your life, when you are an option in theirs."
She will understand.

Sorry not to have responded to this sooner, Paula--haven't done much blogging this last week before Christmas--lots of family here!

So sorry about Sandy...hoping all is well with her soon.

Here's one of my favorite scriptures that pops into my mind ALOT! Hopefully it will give Sandy a little peace as well...

From Psalms 46:10...

"Be still, and know that I am God..."

Thanks for pulling this together, Paula (and Elizabeth!)--you're just wonderful!

Hi Paula. Thank you for doing something so special for Sandyy and allowing all of us to be apart of it. Here's the verse I've chosen.

John 15: 16
“You didn’t choose me! I chose you! I appointed you to go and produce lovely fruit always, so that no matter what you ask for from the Father, using my name, he will give it to you”.

Hope you're having a wonderful day.
Hugs...Tracy :)

Dear Sandy - I have found a kindness & creativity in you that draws me to your blog often...life throws us some horrible tests at times, tests we think we won't be able to survive, but I promise you that you will not only survive this, but come out of it a better and stronger person. I will keep you in my prayers always. John 16:33 reads "These things I have spoken unto you, that in my you might have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". Love and lots of hugs of comfort.

Sandy

This is the Day that the Lord has
made
Let us Rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalms 118:24

This is a verse..that reminds me..I am here on earth for Him..not here for me.That I am to praise Him in all things..whether I understand it or not...To give thanks for things that I do not understand..to give thanks for situations that stink..for health that is bad..Give Thanks?!! Yes give thanks..Know He loved us so much He sent His son to die for our situations..to die for us.

I give Him thanks even when I hurt..even when I cry..I give Him thanks..He know our hearts..He knows our hurts..He knows our future.This verse I claim all the time..it makes me realize I am for Him..He loves me! Know you are loved by all of us also.
Cowgirl to cowgirl...get up off the ground..hold your head up..and try to climb back into life!!We are here to help you in the saddle again.

My favorite prayers are graces where we take a moment during our family time to thank God for his blessings.

One I'd like to share is....

For flowers that bloom about our feet,
Father we thank Thee.
For tender grass so fresh and sweet,
Father we thank Thee.
For song of bird and hum of bee,
For all the things we hear or see,
Father in heaven we thank Thee.

For the new morning with its light,
Father we thank Thee.
For rest and shelter of the night,
Father we thank Thee.
For health and food and love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends,
Father in heaven we thank Thee.
(Ralph Waldo Emerson)

It just always seems to focus me on what IS good with this world.

For Sandy

From Psalm 143:

Lord, hear my prayer, and in your faithfulness heed my supplications;

Let me hear of your loving kindness in the morning, for I put my trust in you; show me the road I must walk, for I lift up my soul to you.

I'm praying for strength and courage for you, Sandy, as you walk through the valley.

Psalm 23-"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Dear Sandy, may Jesus hold you in His loving arms during this time and comfort you. Amen

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalm 139:9-12
9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night;

12 Even the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Romans 8:24-28, 31
24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

I adore Sandy. I went through the same situation that Sandy is going through about ten years ago. I know that I recited the Serenity prayer over and over to myself during that time.
Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
